Our group consist of three People: Jose, Chris, Nathan

Planning Day 1: We didn't know where to begin using the raspberry Pi, but we ultimately came up with the idea of first learning Unix. Here are three things we did to start:

  1. We first installed Hyper a terminal on our Macs.
  2. We then choose to Follow the tutorial on Unix
  3. We did lesson 1 and 2 on the tutorial above.

September 12: We began to learn the basics of unix. We first began with the history if Unix. We learned that Unix was first developed in 1960 and that there are many versions of unix. We also learned that unix has three part to it: The kernel, The shell and the programs.

We also used an online Unix tutorial and completed the first two lesson. In these lessons we learned how to make a directory on our desktop and how to remove it as well. We also learned how to make a directory within a directory as well as remove it.

September 13: Chris was able to make an account on the raspberry pi 1 and we began to implement the commands we learned on the terminal. We first made a File and then removed it using unix commands. We then made a file inside a file using a similar commands.

September 14: We then attempted to ping to raspberry pi 1 using our Macs, however due to restrictions that were placed on these Macs we could not ping from our own Macs and vice versa. We then contacted Marco someone who has better knowledge about pinging than any of us Newbies. Near the end of the day we were able to ping using a laptop provided by Mr. Elknor. I created a account on the laptop with admin privileges and was able to ping back from the raspberry pi 1 to the laptop and from the laptop back.

September 15: We were able to ping both computers successfully, but it took one class period before we could figure out what went wrong. Today we tested it out again and it worked with no problem at all. As of now we realized that we could have also learned more unix commands to improve our unix understanding of course there is always a next time. However we did get the intro down and that was our main goal and our sub goal was to successfully ping two computer from ethernet and one from the wifi.
